22nd January

This week has been all about Dory, well making a few variations on a theme. Plus they came about as a friend said she used to have the nickname at school of Dory. I have made I think eight variations and the very last one posted on this thread on Balloon Chat will be used for the February model of the month. Dory.

Following on from the do it yourself night at the magic club I attend where I took 4/5 items down to show people, well I also had a necklace effect I used to perform possibly some 20 years ago now and took it out the show. Well today I had a show and decided to add it to the repertoire and see how it would go. I was very pleased, needs a couple more lines and ideas but all went well and adults and children a like seemed to enjoy it. It’s all based around a little play so you are reliant on getting up two very good helpers as they do have to talk, interact and play the part. It worked well today and I will be leaving it in for a few shows to see how we can develop it over time.

I’m also thinking about going into directing and helping others with ideas and shows. I have been entertaining for over 37 years now and feel that I might have something to offer. Now how do we get this started, puts on thinking cap…. he he.

We have the first Zoom of the year this coming Tuesday, 24th January, we will be explaining the Wreath and then either Dory or the Penguin that I have made this week. It is for club members but we do offer non club members spaces for a small fee if anyone would like to join us. Details can be found here, Zoom.

Then there is the first balloon day of the year the following Tuesday on 31st January in Sutton at the local football club, it’s a free day as the £10 charge you do get a voucher to spend at the day. More details or to book can be found here, Sutton Balloon Day.

Not sure what the random balloon picture of the week will be, off to look. I went with the four designs we have posted onto the balloon artistes guild tutorial website. With the Lion, Dog, Crab and Sonic being explained. We have also at the moment posted my DVD 9 for people to view. There will be a minimum of 18 designs explained over the year plus two of my DVD’s posted and then the 12 Zooms all included in the one off fee of just a pound a week plus VAT.
Any questions then please ask away or to sign up, The Balloon Artistes Guild.
