10th March

Did you notice there was no blog last week as well? Did you miss me… he he.
I forgot to say I was away again last weekend at the Blackpool Balloon Convention, got back very very late on the Sunday night. We have started to post the pictures from the event with 60 online at the moment but hundreds more to post up over the coming weeks. This is the thread if you’d like to take a look, Blackpool Balloon Convention.

There are three new people running the event from next year, Michael, Louise and Lee,
we wish them well as it is a mammoth task putting this all together for everyone.

This year is the 20th year for running the balloon days, they started off as the “Care & Share” Balloon days for six years
(2005 – 2011) and then re-emerged as “The Balloon Artistes Guild” for nine years (2011 – 2020) Then till now we have called the days a mixture from balloon workshops, star lecture and care & share balloon days (2020 – 2023) The first 5 years the days were kindly sponsored by Sempertex Balloons and the for the last fourteen years by Pioneer Europe (Qualatex Balloons) I would like to thank both companies for the support and friendship during these times and trusting me to go around the country promoting them, it was very much appreciated. The official end of the days as “The Balloon Artistes Guild” was April 2020 but due to Covid we had to carry the last star lecture days over till April 2022.

Now for the 20th Anniversary tour, I’m attempting to run the days at the moment with no sponsorship, so that means we will have to increase the price to attend the days quite a bit just so we break even at running the events over the UK. We are hoping to have three main days, Sutton, Birmingham and Leeds. At the moment I have three very good friends who are happy to help out and get these days up and running. So if in the weeks ahead you do see them advertised if you could share around or if you have attended any of the days and would like to give a quote or a heads up to others then that would be greatly appreciated.

We are still sorting things out for our move away from balloon towers, we have been told things are plodding along as they should with a house move and everything is OK. So fingers crossed no last minute problems. Off to look at new warehouses this week, looking for larger premises so we can stock a larger range of balloon products in the coming months once the move is all sorted out.

That’s me for this week, my next adventure is over to Paris for an ex pat’s Easter extravaganza, so that should be a lot of fun as I’m looking forward to it.

Off to find the random balloon picture of the week, I went with the Ducks which is the latest tutorial design we have added to the subscription website. If you’d like to join then the details are here, The Balloon Artistes Guild.
